Hezbollah drones briefly shut down Israeli airport before being intercepted

JERUSALEM, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) — Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon launched a swarm of explosive drones toward Israel from the east on Monday, briefly halting landings and departures at Ben Gurion International Airport, Israeli sources said.
Israel’s state-owned Kan TV reported that Hezbollah forces launched the drones.
The Israeli military said in a statement that five unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) approached the country and were intercepted by helicopters and warplanes “over the Mediterranean Sea.”
“The UAVs were intercepted before crossing into Israeli territory,” the military added.
The Israeli Airports Authority said Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel Aviv, was briefly shut down before resuming normal operations. ■
